Going to Jo’burg…AGAIN!!

I will tell you why I am supercalifragilisticexpialidocious excited to go visit my sister in Johannesburg again. BECAUSE I CAN!!!

I know that while I am there I don’t have a care in the world. I don’t have to worry about work at all, except for Tweeting, but I do that anyway. All we are going to do is relax and have fun wherever the hell we go, except when we decide to bump into that hot-air-balloon again. I’m never getting on that thing again.

I know most of us live for the weekends, but that just means that we live for the fun times!!

I have to get back to packing so see yawl tomorrow, and I hope you have a rocking weekend just like me. :D

How hard is it to follow instructions?

I don’t know, you tell me. I prefer to give instructions rather than to follow them. Don’t we all? It is much more fun.

Seriously, I actually think it is very difficult for some people to follow instructions when not motivated properly. Even for me, I hate doing things I don’t want to, thus most of the time I am rushing through it just to get it done and not actually putting a lot of effort into it.

For some people who are born to follow, it must be easier to follow instructions, but I am not that person. Maybe I should work on my listening skills, which will probably help. I am a good listener when it comes to friends and family, but not when I have to sit and listen in class or when someone is moaning in my ear.

So how hard is it to follow instructions?

Am I supposed to answer that??

How long can you cope with the pressure?

It started yesterday when we saw that our neighbors (living behind us) tied their dog to a rope about a meter or two long AGAIN, not even near his food or water. If you knew the whole story then you would understand why I got so mad, but that is a story for another day. (We did phone the SPCA AGAIN)

The point is we were talking about how gutless and brutal someone must be to abuse any animal. I say someone who does that is sick in their head and must be taken to a mental institution. Anyway, skipping all that too.

Then we started to talk about mental illness and depression. Unfortunately we know of some people who had depression and thought that taking their own life is the best way out. I told my father that I am raised very well and understand right from wrong. I know what I am capable of achieving and that if I should ever end up losing my job and my house or everything I have, I will start over and never turn to suicide.

My father then replied: “You will never know until you are there.”

What do you think??

Andy Warhol said, “In the future everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes.” You can’t choose the 15 minutes but why would you be famous?

Does these 15 minutes come all at once?? Or do I get to be famous more than once for up to 15 minutes. Who knows!! And does it have to be a ‘good’ famous or can I be infamous for 15 minutes because I stalked Chris Brown. Haha only joking.

Getting serious for a moment…I guess if I can choose for what I am famous for it would be for saving the world!!! Da da da da daaaaa…Superwoman!!

No really, I would like to be famous for contributing towards animal welfare and helping animals in need…and maybe catching (or poaching) a poacher or two. I could definitely see myself on T.V for that 15 minutes talking about my success and persuading people to do the same.

Luckily one of my best friends is just as passionate as me and she will definitely share those 15 minutes with me. Making a name!!!

Work hard…and play even harder.

All hard work has to go with a little bit of playtime. The harder you work, the harder you are allowed to play.

At the end your work will pay off and you can play all you want. So remember, keep your mind focused and yourself motivated when you are working, but as soon as you rest or take a break, learn to let go of the work that still needs to be done.

Go ahead and let loose, forget and enjoy. The one golden rule: First you work then you play.

A skill set called leadership

Leadership. A word attached to great responsibility, knowledge, strength and hopefully attached to a heart of gold and hope.

I don’t think you develop leadership skills, but instead are born with it. I think some people are born to be a leader, great leaders in fact, but some of them don’t even know it. Obviously you can develop these skills, but it seems most of the time it comes naturally and from a good heart with great sincerity and possibilities, from someone who want the positive changes and who leads the ‘better’ way. These types of leaders aren’t always the president or the minister or the school principle, but sometimes the person with the will for great things.

In my honest opinion, I don’t see any leadership in our government, just people who think they are leading and only taking advantage of us ‘the people’ for their own comfort. They don’t care. We must create ‘real’ leaders for our future. You can be the next leader. I can be the next leader.

Inspiration and motivation

Ladies!! Im sure none of us are ready to go back to Tech, and could do with a few more days of rest. I admit, its been a long time and im actually looking forward to seeing everybody again and to see what the last semester has instore for us. I’m just not looking forward to all the late nights I will be spending on assignments bleh.

Even though, I found a few inspirational and motivational qoutes for us just to keep us smiling for the the future and to keep us positive.

Many of life's failures are men who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
Thomas Edison

The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time.

A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.
Hugh Downs

Remember that happiness is a way of travel, not a destination.
Roy Goodman

Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.
Maurice Seitter

If you don't think every day is a good day, just try missing one.
Cavett Robert

Jack Penn

I hope all of you are well. See you on the flip side. J

“Rock journalism is people who can’t write interviewing people who can’t talk for people who can’t read.” – Frank Zappa

As I assume most of us know, Frank was a very talented music artist loved and hated by many. At least he had his own voice; I’ll give that to him. He was not afraid to speak his honest mind. Maybe that was his downfall and why so many people couldn’t stand him.

At first I had to read this statement a few times to fully understand its meaning and true power. It seems like there is a lot of anger and irritation behind this statement. Again it is a very honest and direct statement, and maybe also true.

As I am not of great knowledge on this topic and don’t have much to say, I still have an opinion. I think before you go into rock journalism, do your homework!! Know and understand the music and the people involved, be open to new forms of rock and be objective. Most of all, be prepared to be ambushed and maybe even attacked by a few rock stars who don’t agree with what you have written, especially if it is about them.

Good luck!

Shockwave

For the past two weeks my mother and I started to talk about my future and what I will be doing next year. As I still see myself as a student living with my parents who takes care of me (I am totally a mommy and daddy’s girl), I was a bit shocked when I realized that next year EVERYTHING will change. I will be entering the world of the scary old grumpy adults where everything is serious and nothing is fun.
As my mother and I were talking we came to the conclusion that I must soon start to apply for jobs so that I can have one at the beginning of next year. We then discussed that I will still be living with them for another year or two until I have saved some money and found my feet. Luckily for me I am the only child who still lives at home (my sister moved to Jo’burg) and my parents will do ANYTHING to keep me here.
The first job you get after your studies is the most crucial, because this is the foundation you will build on for the rest of your life and you may even get stuck in a job you don’t want to be in. The only problem is that all of this sounds sooooo boring. This whole finish your studies and finding a job to make money and work yourself to the bone until you die thing doesn’t work for me. I still want to go to Holland next year and explore and play around with what I want to do someday.
If all works out as planned, I feel very sorry for my parents, as their youngest child (me) will also be leaving home soon. J

My top 200 achievements

Wow!! This would take a while to list, even though I don’t even think I have 200 achievements to list. Well, maybe if you take into consideration all the tiny details such as learning to tie my shoes, making my own bed, to dress myself, tie my own hair, going to the toilet by myself, swimming, riding a bicycle, talking, walking, learning, playing sports and being good at it, driving a car etc. All these things were considered by our parents as something we achieved and what we learned to do. They were proud of us. Now thinking of achievements, I would say:
·         Passing primary school
·         Passing Matrix
·         Getting my PR Diploma
·         Passing my Events Management short course
·         Today…it is a great achievement to drag myself out of bed every day during our holiday, and being in a relationship for longer than two weeks hehe.
You can also achieve things on an emotional or personal level, like pushing yourself to be more caring and considerate of other people and achieving your personal goal of doing so. If this is very important to you as a person this can also be one of your top achievements.
Anyway, I am definitely too young to have 200 top achievements, although I am planning on doing so in my many years still too come. I believe I have a purpose in life and God will spare me to achieve everything I want to achieve.
